Grand Rapids Attractions - Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, by James C

Grand Rapids Michigan is a great city to visit. It often gets overlooked in favor of Michigan's larger city of Detroit but there is a lot to do in this city. One attraction that is well worth a stop is the Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. Keep reading and learn about what makes this place worth a visit and what you will see when you get there.

Nature's Beauty Awaits at the Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture ParkThe Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park is located just a few minutes from downtown Grand Rapids. The sculpture park covers over 125 acres and is quite an impressive site. It is home to a number of interesting sculptures by some of the countries best artists. One of the most notable sculptures in the park is the piece called the "American Horse". It is a sculpture that is based on a never finished design of Leonardo da Vinci. This 24 foot tall bronze horse is an impressive site to see. You can spend several hours exploring the gardens so be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to explore. When you are done taking in the sculpture park you can treat yourself to a picnic lunch in the garden or you might even be able to catch a concert at the Meijer amphitheatre. The amphitheatre is beautifully designed and welcomes many nationally known artists from June through September. A concert there is a great way to wrap up a nice quiet day at the park. Hopefully by now you have decided to go to the park for a visit. It is an experience you will love and you will probably come back again and again.

To get directions, current hours and special events you can call the park information line at 616-957-1580. The park is located at 1000 E Beltline Ave NE in Grand Rapids. Have fun exploring.
