Grand Rapids Attractions - Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, by James C

Grand Rapids Michigan is a great city to visit. It often gets overlooked in favor of Michigan's larger city of Detroit but there is a lot to do in this city. One attraction that is well worth a stop is the Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. Keep reading and learn about what makes this place worth a visit and what you will see when you get there.

The Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park is located just a few minutes from downtown Grand Rapids. The sculpture park covers over 125 acres and is quite an impressive site. It is home to a number of interesting sculptures by some of the countries best artists. One of the most notable sculptures in the park is the piece called the "American Horse". It is a sculpture that is based on a never finished design of Leonardo da Vinci. This 24 foot tall bronze horse is an impressive site to see. You can spend several hours exploring the gardens so be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to explore. When you are done taking in the sculpture park you can treat yourself to a picnic lunch in the garden or you might even be able to catch a concert at the Meijer amphitheatre. The amphitheatre is beautifully designed and welcomes many nationally known artists from June through September. A concert there is a great way to wrap up a nice quiet day at the park. Hopefully by now you have decided to go to the park for a visit. It is an experience you will love and you will probably come back again and again.

Kids Climb High In Grand Rapids

Worried about the kids going crazy on your family vacation? No problem, let them climb to new heights at the Higher Ground Rock Climbing Centre, a gym devoted to the sport of rock climbing. With more than 7000 square feet of climbing surface, including two huge bouldering rooms, climbers of all levels will find something of interest. Climbers use artificial rock holds to scale 23 foot walls. A variety of climbing surfaces, from roof to slab, overhang to vertical, as well as chimneys, dihedrals, and arêtes, are available. Routes change often so you can look forward to a new challenge each time you stop out.

For those who love the music of Pink Floyd you can experience the magic behind the music at the Van Andel Museum Center, located at 272 Pearl St. NW, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Van Andel Museum Center will feature Pink Floyd - The Wall, a Spectacular Music and Light Show through early May on Friday & Saturday nights 9:00pm. Each show is $7.00. $1.50 per ticket will be added for all internet orders. Also to be featured in the Pink Floyd-Darkside of Moon on Friday & Saturday nights 8:00pm.
