Hans Christian Andersen As a child I recall the Fairy Tales my Aunt told me by Hans Christian Andersen. Among the celebration held at the Danish Windmill this year was the annual Tivoli Fest over Memorial Day Weekend. The “Tivoli: A Fairy Tale Land” celebrated Hans Christian Andersen 200th birthday with music and festivities throughout the weekend. This is just one of the exciting events held throughout the year at the Danish Windmill.

The Largest Rural Danish Settlement In The U.S. Beautiful homes decorated in Danish style dot the landscape of Elk Horn; the largest rural Danish settlement in the U.S. The Danish families who live in the area still honor a the customs of their homeland. Incorporated in 1901, visitors to the town of Elk Horn enjoy the small town charm and Danish touches like hand-crafted, miniature windmills found on manicured lawns around town.
