We
have a family of creative artists, who enjoyed painting on
just about everything that doesn't move. And, sometimes
things that do move if they can catch them long enough. Our
son has turned the snow into his canvas, and each year we
await to see what he create next.
When the boys were children we enjoyed making snowmen with them. And now you can make this fun winter event even more exciting by Building A Snowman and submitting it to the Wildflower Inn's contest.
Located in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom in Lyndonville,
the Wildflower Inn is celebrating their 25th anniversary by
offering families across the country a chance to win a
free getaway as part of a new contest.
"This contest is about bringing families together, which is the heart of our mission," says innkeeper Jim O'Reilly. "Everyone knows that the secret to a happy family is spending time together and having fun. It's been a crazy couple of years with the economy, and I think we're all ready for some fun."
Jim O’Reilly and his wife, Mary, opened the Wildflower Inn in 1985. The couple has eight children of their own. “After 25 years of meeting so many wonderful families who traveled to the inn, we decided we really wanted to give something back,” says Mary O’Reilly. “The idea of spending time together seems simple, but it’s not always so easy these days. That's why we're offering an incentive to get people together. Hopefully, folks will embrace this ‘project’ and make it part of their lives.”
To
enter the contest, titled “Project Snowman 2010,” families
must submit a photo of themselves with their snowman. Photo
submissions may be made online or regular mail and the
deadline for entries is March 31, 2010. All winners will be
chosen by random drawing.
Although this contest is open to anyone anywhere, for those families that vacation at the inn this winter, they will have the opportunity to build their snowman in “Bentley Field,” named after local hero, Wilson “Snowflake” Bentley, who was the first to photograph snowflakes in the early 1900s. “We’re creating an area in a huge field, where there will be plenty of room for rolling snowballs!” notes Jim. Throughout the winter, families are invited to add their own snowman to the field, and they can enter it into the contest. Whether you build one at the inn, or in your backyard, everyone gets a chance to win the prizes.
