Relaxing Getaways & Entertainment In Kansas City, Missouri, By Melody Schubert:

When was the last time you took a vacation to Kansas City, Missouri and simply relaxed and enjoyed a leisurely tour of area attractions at your own pace? Makes you think for a moment, doesn't it? So often, a vacation is a time crunch. Make the plans, get to your destination, and you're on a non-stop mission to squeeze every ounce of enjoyment out of your trip. It's okay to admit it has happened at least once, I'll understand. So, where can you go to enjoy life at a slower pace, while experiencing world-class arts, entertainment, and sports? Kansas City, of course.

Wait a minute, you may be wondering which Kansas City we're talking about; the one on the Missouri side, or Kansas City, Kansas. Both have great destinations to explore, so let's start in Missouri and go from there on this trip.

Start your journey by staying at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center, (816-421-1234), located at 2345 McGee Street. There's plenty of room at this newly renovated hotel adjacent to the Crown Center Exhibit Hall for large parties or groups, space to accommodate family functions, meetings, and conferences. From the travel Media Showcase to Medical conventions, there's ample space to accommodate your needs at the Hyatt. And, on site there are several dining options, including the Milano Italian Restaurant, Peppercorn Duck Club, Spectator's Bar and Grille, and Skies Rooftop Revolving Restaurant.

Guests enjoy all the amenities they've come to expect from the Hyatt and the Regency Club. From Comfortably Appointed Guestrooms, a Full Service Business Center, and Concierge Services, you'll have everything you need to make the most out of your trip. That's what a vacation is suppose to be, isn't it? Relax in the Heated All Season Outdoor Pool, Whirlpool and Sauna in Health Club, Fully Equipped Fitness Center, or out on the Sundeck. If you happen to be in town when it rains it is not a problem, as we found out. Simple take the glass enclosed walk way that leads right to dining and attractions in the area.

When it comes to attractions, Kansas City, Missouri has a mix of venues for all taste. For interactive and engaging exhibits visit the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial. Just across the street is the grand and timeless Union Station that is now home to cultural exhibits, museums, and theater, as well as being a working train station. These attractions are also within walking distance and accessible via the glass enclosed walk way that takes you back to the Hyatt. It also leads to the Crown Center, where you'll find the Hallmark Visitor Center and Kaleidoscope, both are great kid-friendly attractions. How easy is that?

If you're in town in Late May stick around for the Station Symphony Concert; a free patriotic musical salute by the Kansas City Symphony. The concert, held at right across from Union Station features a amazing display of fireworks after the Liberty Memorial Celebration that go off over the National World War I Museum. This is just one of many exciting events that take place in this vibrate city.
