Farms on a tour. For horse lovers, Lexington is the center of the horse
universe! A visit to the Kentucky Horse Park gives you a up-close look at a
variety of horse breeds including the history of Kentucky's oldest native breed
at the American Saddlebred Museum. Then there's the thrill of racing at
Keeneland Race Course or the Red Mile Harness Track. An interesting option is to
attend the Keeneland Horse Sales, where you'll find yourself standing elbow to
elbow with buyers bidding on the most expensive Thoroughbreds in the world. It
is amazing to realize that many of these buyers travel from as far away as the
Arabian countries to purchase their horses.
A treat for many horse fans is to meet past and
future Kentucky Derby winners and get a behind-the-scenes look at the
multi-billion dollar horse industry on personalized horse farm tours. The
Kentucky Derby is known around the world, and rich with traditions. While the
race is held in Louisville, Lexington is where Thoroughbreds are bred, foaled,
trained, bought, sold, raced and retired. It is also where the Derby Eve parties
are held, and where the mint julep was perfected!

visit downtown Lexington where you'll discover not only mega centers offering
bargains, but charming boutiques that offer unique items that express the heart
of the region. When it comes time for a bite to eat enjoy a sample of Bluegrass
