Return to Freedom- North America's Wild Horse Sanctuary, by Melody Schubert
Return to Freedom is a 310-acre ranch that is home to the North American Wild Horse Sanctuary. This is one of the few place where you can embrace the beauty and wonder of America's wild horses in a natural setting. For the young, and young at heart a visit to the North American Wild Horse Sanctuary is a experience you will never forget. American Wild Horses have evolved over five hundred years from Spanish bloodlines, Cavalry remount horses after World War I, and draft horse stock, for the most part. All the horses at the sanctuary are ambassadors, representative of our living history and their unique origins. In addition to the rescue and sanctuary efforts, Return to Freedom also has a preservation program that includes isolated genetic groups of horses, many with documented historical significance. Horses are a symbol of freedom and the American spirit, just like the bald eagle. In the animated movie Spirit, both animals travel across the plains side-by-side. That's why it was particularly thrilling that Return to Freedom was chosen by DreamWorks SKG, the company that produced the movie, to be the home of the horse that the movie's drawings, animation, and spirit were based on. Located in the California hills, about 2 ' hours north of Los Angeles, the Return to Freedom ranch welcomes a variety of organizations and individuals to experience the natural beauty of these amazing creatures with customized functions and retreats. Guests can enjoy a unique opportunity to come together in a sanctuary that opens the heart and magic of the natural world.
Return to Freedom is only 10 miles from one of the most beautiful beaches in south-central California, which makes it easy to enjoy a morning swim or walk on the beach. With breathtaking cliffs and pounding surf, it's one that you'll remember for years to come. To compliment your stay, additional amenities are also available at Return to Freedom. These include massage, yoga instruction, and herbalist walks. Included in your retreat is a tour of our ranch. One of the most rewarding benefits of visiting Return to Freedom is helping out with the daily ranch chores and activities. There is no better way to feel exercised and relaxed at the end of a day. And while you're there, schedule your group for a Wild Horse Walking Adventure.
