Montgomery, Alabama Welcomes You The Moment You Touch Down, Melody Schubert

On a beautiful September morning we set off on a trip to Montgomery, Alabama. With only a faint breeze, and clear skies, it was a perfect day to fly. We changed planes in North Carolina, and were on our way within minutes of boarding. We've never been to Alabama, so this was a new experience, and what a pleasure it was when we arrived at the Montgomery Regional Airport at Dannelly Field.

Airports are rather intimidating places these days with the increased security and alerts that change almost hourly. I always hope I've packed everything just right so we have no problems. Today was a simply great day. Not only were the flights on time and the ride smooth, we landed feeling welcomed in Montgomery. The moment we arrived a stepped off the plane we were surprised by the straight forward design of the airport. Just turn the corner, and surprise, there's the baggage carousel. There's only one!

The same strict security measures apply at the Montgomery Regional Airport. In fact, you'll spot the Airport Security Guards keep a attentive eye on everything within and just outside the main doors. When I say just outside, I mean you pick up your luggage and take a few steps and you're outside. The small size of the airport also makes it easy for friends and family to welcome you when you arrive.

Plus, just across the way is the short term parking lot, car rental is also available, and there's always a taxi driver on hand with a welcoming smile to take you wherever you need to go. And, as for now, those who do smoke can lit up outside. Of course, this may change in the future, but it appreciated by smokers, who are polite and keep to themselves when they do lit up.

Montgomery Regional Airport is small compared to North Carolina and other airports we've traveled through! There is one big difference though; we were rushed, or treated like just another ticket or bag passing through the terminal. Instead, we felt as if we were returning home after a long trip; welcomed by old friends whose warm smiles embraced us. This was a perfect introduction to Montgomery!

After several days at our conference that was filled with meetings and social engagements, we found the return flight back to the Midwest was just as easy. The airline staff are waiting just inside the doors to help you, and the security check in is located around the corner. One of the greatest things about the small size of Alabama's Montgomery Regional Airport is that you do not have to walk forever to get to your gate. This is especially helpful if you forget to retrieve your hat as I did. Instead of walking what seems like a mile back to the check point you're right there.

The seating area is comfortable, the restrooms are clean, and there are a couple quick snack options, as well as wide screened TV's broadcasting the latest news. And, if you have any questions or concerns there's also someone on hand to help. First impression are long lasting, and the Montgomery Regional Airport Staff and Security Teams have done an excellent job at not only representing themselves and the airlines they serve, but also represented their state and the capital city of Montgomery!

While in town, be sure to explore the area via the Downtown Trolley, that makes numerous stops at the historic and entertaining attractions available. For an evening out climb aboard the Harriott II Riverboat and enjoy relaxing, scenic cruise along the Alabama River! There are endless possibilities for fun and entertainment in Montgomery, which is always happy to welcome you home!

Thank you to all of the Montgomery Regional Airport Staff and Security Teams for their kindness and professionalism. We know you're job is tough, and the work you do is often overlooked when we're in a hurry to catch our next flight. You're hard work and dedication to our safety is appreciated!
