Located eight miles northeast of Fort Payne, Desoto State Park features several rushing waterfalls and a beautiful landscape blanketed with fragrant wildflowers. Tucked within the Desoto State Park atop beautiful scenic Lookout Mountain in northeast Alabama are Mountain Chalets, Log  & Rustic Cabins, Motel Rooms, Meeting Rooms, and various campgrounds.

Kids can play on the playground before the picnic or take a dip in the Olympic-size swimming pool. To learn more about Desoto State Park visit the nature center that offers interpretive programs and has animals to interact with during your stop. To explore more of Desoto State Park take off thorugh over 19 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails.

After a day at the Desoto State Park get out and stop in at festive events throughout DeKalb County. Among the upcoming events at the end of March is the Geraldine Annual Quilt Show and the River Rhythms Family Fun Programs called Hissss and Sssslither. In April a favorite event is the Waterfall Tour at DeSoto State Park, and in Mid April is the Annual "A View From Earth" Earth Day Celebration.
