Romance Can Be
Quirky, Dreamy and
Alluring In London,
By Melody Schubert
Visit London has put together for a quirky,
dreamy and alluring getaway for Valentine's and throughout the year in London.
Here are a few of our favorite destination ideas:
Take A Twilight Tour Around A Museum In London
- For the cultured couple, there is no better date location than a museum.
Stocked with famous paintings from Van Gogh, Monet and Da Vinci, the
National Gallery is an ideal place to get up close with famous pieces.
And the experience is getting even more intimate on Valentine’s Day,
with the museum offering a twilight tour of paintings focusing on love
exclusively on Valentine’s Day.
For couples with more contemporary taste, the Tate Modern is offering
private tours around the museum. Tate Tours for Two gives private
daytime or evening tours that can be paired with afternoon tea or a
champagne meal.

Enjoy An Evening With The Stars - Celebrate the International Year of
Astronomy at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. The Planetarium allows
stargazers to look through the 28” telescope and wander around the
modern astronomy galleries. Or visit
London’s Bankside that has menus to allow celebrating couples to eat like
kings and queens. Wine haven Vinopolis offers a vegetarian or meat tapas platter
featuring food sourced from Spanish food specialist Brindisa in Borough
Market. The restaurant will offer self-guided wine tours as well. For
entertainment, Vinopolis will be hosting a Laughter Lounge with a lineup
of top comedians to complement any wine selection.
Another delicious option is a romantic dinner at Swan at the Globe
Brasserie. Located within Shakespeare’s Globe theatre and offering
outstanding views of the river, the restaurant is offers a wonderful
selection of savory flavors on its menu.
Stay in and take a dip - The Berkeley Hotel can put together a
romantic package that includes beautiful rooms and great amenities, and
you can request a late check so you can snuggle with your loved one a
bit longer to continue the romance. The Berkeley also has a rooftop pool
for romantic evening dips under the stars.

EAST Festival brings
London’s funky art scene center stage - In
Early March don't forget to visit the EAST Festival that demonstrates
visual arts, music, fashion and much more, putting the spotlight on
London’s creative capitals, including Hoxton, Hackney and Stratford. The
festival kicks off with a look at navigation, and a launch performance
will include 111 cyclists pedaling to a rare performance of Mauricio
Kagel’s “Eine Brise” (A Breeze). The navigational theme will continue
throughout the festival, mapping new walking itineraries and
highlighting the network of bus routes that tour East London art spaces.
Some of East London’s biggest attractions are going to be accessible via
bicycle through Cycle East, a bike trip through the East End making a
range of cultural stops, including performances by London playwrights
and vocalists.
The EAST Festival will feature a showcase of Asian music with a
Bollywood flair onstage in Spitalfields. The space will also feature
“Reinventing Bollywood,” an exhibition on the relationship between women
and Indian cinema and how they have been viewed both in front of and
behind the camera. The Theater Royal Stratford East will present
“Where’s My Desi Soulmate?,” a look at the dating rituals of
contemporary British Asians, moving away from traditional norms and into
the digital age.
