In
Milwaukee, Wisconsin our family shared a week of exploring, a bit of
learning, and discovery in a Genuine American City. The endless
opportunities for all-around fun in the Greater Milwaukee area makes it
a popular destination. Welcome to the City of Festivals. Each year
Milwaukee celebrates its diversity with an abundance of entertaining
ethnic and cultural festivals. These exciting festivities draw nearly
one million attendees every year who join together to enjoy the
activities at the annual Summerfest, one of the world’s largest music
festivals.
Henry W. Maier Festival Park is home to the majority
of the summer festivals. With a beautifully landscaped 75-acre festival
ground on the lakefront, and thirteen permanent stages, plus a huge
children’s PlayZone one can find a variety of activities to enjoy. As
for festivals, well, take your pick, there’s the Polish Fest, Bastille
Days, Festa Italiana, German Fest, African World Fest, Irish Fest,
Mexican Fiesta, Oktoberfest, Indian Summer Festival, Russian Fest,
Cajun Fest, Asian Moon Festival and don’t forget the Holiday Folk Fair.
In other words, there’s plenty of excitement to experience in Milwaukee.
Summer in Milwaukee is a great time to gather your family and
friends for the free outdoor concerts. Among the concerts is the weekly
Jazz in the Park series on Cathedral Square, the River Rhythms concerts
and River Flicks outdoor family films in Pere Marquette Park, and the
ever-popular noon concerts at the permanent outdoor stage of the Marcus
Center for the Performing Arts.
