Enjoy Performances, Programs, and Concert Series At The River Music Experience, By Melody Schubert

If you love the music sounds of the Mississippi River, then the River Music Experience is the place to visit on your trip to the Quad Cities. Here, you'll experience America's music with musical performances and programs that nurture, educate and inspire musicians, and everyone who appreciates music.

The River Music Experience is also a great spot for a bit to eat at Mojo's. Sit back and enjoy music performances over lunch as you plan the rest of your Quad Cities adventure with family and friends. Along with food at Mojo's, you can also participate in Educational Programs, and upcoming events like Community Drum Circle, Open Mic Night, or Song Writers in the Round!

Returning this year is the Winter Blues Program that features vocal and instrumental workshops that include guitar, bass, harmonica, keyboards & drums, as well as workshops on blues composition and improvisation. Winter Blues consists of three half-day rehearsal and workshop sessions on December 27, 28, 29. The program concludes with a Winter Blues Jam in the Redstone Room on Thurs., Dec. 30 from 6-8 pm. To register, or for more information, contact Ellis Kell , Director of Programming & Community Outreach, at 563-326-1333, ext. 113, or email: ekell@rivermusicexperience.org.

A favorite event for music lovers is the Courtyard Series at the River Music Experience, which has live music every Friday on the RME Courtyard for FREE! THe event takes place at 5pm, and showcases the tunes from local & regional bands. The Friday Live @ 5 Series runs through September; with the exception of special dates when street and music festivals take place downtown. Among the bands who have perform at River Music Experience are the Dani Lynn Howe Band and Grazin' District, who play Country, The Warmth, playing Rock and Grunge music, The Tim Stop Trio kicking out some Pop, Rock, and Soulful tunes.

In the River Music Experience Museum & Exhibition space there are permanent exhibits and interactive kiosks which explore the music and lives of musicians like Prince, B.B. King, the Beatles, and other legends. The River Music Experience a wonderful place to visit for anyone who enjoys a diverse mix of music. And, what we loved was the continuing contributions that the River Music Experience gives to the community and musicians. Contributions are always appreciated and help support the River Music Experience's FREE concerts, workshops, and other programs for musicians.
