On our recent visit to Irvine, California we had the pleasure of joining
our group of friends for an evening out at the Irvine Spectrum Center. We
were told we would sample appetizers and drinks at the Yard House Restaurant
before enjoying a comedy show and dinner at the Improv Comedy Club. As it
turned out, the Yard House Restaurant was much more than we expected.
Known for it's great food and classic rock, we felt right at home the
moment we walked in thanks to our hosts, who welcomed us with warm smiles.
This was what fueled the casual evening out and created a memorable night.
Glancing around at the crowd gathered in the Yard House Restaurant you could
see everyone was enjoying themselves. After looking over the extensive menu
selections we knew we would have to come back to enjoy more than just the
savory appetizers. The steaks, chops and ribs sounded enticing, as did the
variety of sandwiches and salads. In addition to its great food, the Yard
House Restaurant is also known for the world’s largest selection of draft
beer. This is not an understatement; there were so many different types of
beers you could spend months or longer trying each one
- over 250 selections.
We were able to take a peek at the glass-enclosed keg
room, and realized what makes the difference between a good beer and a great
one; the filtration system. Lines of tubes spread outward from each keg to the
center island bar, and each time a keg runs out the crew ensures the quality of
the beer by flushing the system completely, which produces less of a head. This
means you not only enjoy a better tasting beer, but you also get more of it
since there is less foam. From a classic beer to lagers and obscure ales, the
Yard House Restaurant has a beer for every taste.
Founded by restaurateur Steele Platt, who partnered
with Harald Herrmann and Carlito Jocson, the Yard House Restaurant has developed
a loyal following. It is not just the classic rock music, great food, and beer
that draws customers back though; the heart of the Yard House Restaurant is the
