In the Year Of Alabama Music you'll find almost every corner of the state filled with a inviting southern tune to share. From the blues to jazz and gospel to the down home country sound of Hank Williams Sr., Alabama's got a song for you to sing along to on your trip!

During the Year Of Alabama Music there will be over 200 festivals offering live music to enjoy. There will be concerts on Alabama’s beaches and music festivals like Jubilee Cityfest in Montgomery and Bayfest in Mobile. Then there's the Old Time Fiddlers Convention in Athens and “Abalabip” in Birmingham; it's going to be a great year for music fans visiting Alabama.

Celebrating Alabama's Music Legends:

Enjoy the year of Alabama Music at local street festivalsAmong these events will be those to honor Alabama’s music legends, such as the Hank Williams Festival in his hometown of Georgiana; the Hank Williams Birthday Celebration in Montgomery; and the 30th annual W.C. Handy Music Festival in Florence. The late Frank Brown, a watchman at the roadhouse beach bar Flora-Bama for 27 years, has an 11-day music festival that bears his name and features more than 200 legendary and upcoming songwriters in Orange Beach. Newer festivals honor artists that include the Delmore Brothers, bluesmen Willie King and Johnny Shines

The festivities kick off with the ABALABIP in Birmingham, then there's the In the Pines Music Festival in Chatom, Alabama. To help you make the most of your trip and enjoy all the festive affairs during the Year Of Alabama Music here are a few suggestions of festivals to join:

Coming up in Mid April is the Alabama Chicken & Egg Festival in Moulton, the Old 280 Boogie in Waverly, the Sucarnochee Folklife Festival in Livingston, as well as the Belk Bluegrass Festival in Belk, the Mullet Toss & Beach Party in Orange Beach, TroyFest 2011 in Troy, and the Auburn CityFest in Auburn, at the end of April.

Dance the night away at local clubs during the year of Alabama MusicMay kicks off with a event honoring Hank Williams, the Hank Williams Festival in Georgiana. Then there's the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, the Southern Appalachian Dulcimer Festival in McCalla, the Gulf Coast Zydeco Festival in Daphne, and Horse Pens 40 Bluegrass Festival in Steele, Alabama. And these are just a few of the festivities coming up in the near future.
